This was originally reported to LDC as https://github.com/ldc-developers/ldc/issues/1228: The gethostbyname*() familiy of functions is apparently deprecated in glibc. The openSUSE RPM linter tool warns against using it: https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Packaging_checks#binary-or-shlib-calls-gethostbyname We probably don't want to be using it anyway, given that IPv6 is becoming more and more popular.
