https://dlang.org/spec/function.html#parameters In the description of parameter storage classes: `in` -- equivalent to `const scope` However, according to http://forum.dlang.org/post/[email protected] and https://github.com/dlang/druntime/pull/1740, "in 'pretty much just means const'".

The spec now addresses the status of `in`.
